June Newsletter

The summer is on us. It’s already hot out at the range. The number of people at the range seems to continue to grow and the number of people inquiring about becoming members is also increasing. We had a very successful work day on March 24th and a great many things were accomplished. The range is looking great. Thank you to our members who are working to improve our club in so many ways. There are a number of projects that are on the to do list as there always is, if there is something that you are aware of that needs attention or especially if there is something that you can take care of please let one of the officers know and they can arrange for you to get a workday credit for the work that you preform.
Members if you can pull a range duty day please let, Walter Maxwell, know as far in advance as possible. There are times that Walter is asking right up to the last minute. We seem to be having a problem of getting range masters in the last few months. It may be that many of us figure that there are enough members surely someone will do it and we don’t give it a second thought. Remember those of you that are working members that range duty is part of your membership and is an important part to keeping the range open. Please help out as often as you can it is greatly appreciated.
New machines have been purchased for field #1 and are in the process of being installed. These machines are also wireless like the machines on field #2 and also have a voice activated release capability for someone that is shooting alone.

Warmer and less soggy days ahead, we hope.  The winter months in the past have been slow months for MCSSA, but anyone that has been out to the range the last few months knows that this has not been the case.  The range seems to continue to be busy no matter what the weather.  With the club year ending the last of March there are several important things coming up.
·         Officers and Board of Directors for the new year.  If you are interested in serving as an officer or on the board please let one of the current officers or board members know.  This is one way that you can have a voice in the direction that the club is going.  We are always looking for new people and ideas to improve the club.  As they say, “You don’t have to be crazy to be on the board but it helps.” The Officers and Board of Directors for the new year will be put in place at the March club meeting.
·         If you are ending the club year as a working member and you were unable to complete all the workdays, be sure to include $30 for each day not completed when you are renewing your membership.
·         Remember if you have Range Master Credits that you have not used you can use them toward the renewing of your membership.
·         There will be a workday March 24th starting at 8:30 if it rains then the make-up date will be the 31st. This day will let some of you get in one more workday before the club year ends.  If there is a project that you feel needs to be addressed on workday please let us know so we can make plans for it.

Club Meeting:
The next club meeting will be a Board of Directors meeting at Gander Mt. Feb. 17th 6:00.

Thanks again for all you do to make MCSSA a great place to come and enjoy the shooting sports.  If there is something that you have in mind that would help improve the club even more please let us know.  Also if you would like to see something added to the monthly newsletter than let me know and we’ll see what we can do.

Well, the calendar year has ended and the club membership year is also quickly coming to a close.  The past year has been a good year for MCSSA.  A skeet house was finished, the outside of the club house has been partly redone.  A window that had been leaking badly for a long time was replaced, one of the bathrooms has been remodeled, and some painting has been done.  We also added a new metal building for storage.  The county helped us greatly this last year by filling in the potholes in the road, running us a new larger water line down to the club house, installing a fire hydrant, and redoing the plumbing in the restrooms.  It would be hard to name all that has been done, both big and small items, this year to improve our shooting facilities.  The officers and board of directors would like to say thank you to our members for helping to make MCSSA a shooting facility that we can take pride in.
As was mentioned the club year is quickly drawing to a close so there are a few things to keep in mind.
·         If you are a working member and have not completed all your work days, then you are running out of weekends to get that done.
·         If you do not get all of your workdays completed then when you renew your membership you will need to pay for all workdays not completed.
·         If you have completed all you workdays and have sufficient range master credits you may apply those to next year’s membership.

Shooting Supplies:
The club will be ordering from Gamaliel very shortly if you would like to order shooting supplies and have it shipped with the club’s order of clays then look on Gamaliel’s web site, http://www.gamaliel.com get the item numbers and then contact Jeff Hendrix, jhendrix@apehuntsville.com . If you want to get in on this order Jeff needs your information no later than Jan. 27th.
